A Lil Wayne/Eminem single, “Drop the World,” “leaked” Tuesday morning, but around 500 hardcore Wayne fans got a much better early Xmas present.

Around 500 Amazon customers who pre-ordered Lil Wayne’s long-delayed rock album, Rebirth, received a shiny copy of the CD in the mail this week, Billboard reports. The album, which has been pushed (and pushed, and pushed…) back six times since the spring, is currently set for a Feb. 1, 2010 release. (Its previous street date was Dec. 21.)

Billboard reports that the premature delivery was due to an Amazon shipping error, though the online retailer has yet to comment on the snafu.

Several singles off of the rapper’s first rock album have already been released, including “Prom Queen,” “On Fire” and “Da Da Da.”

But now that Rebirth is in the hands of some 500 Amazon customers — plus however many thousand crooks who’ve tracked it down through a quick torrent search since yesterday — there’s at least one silver lining: now Lil Wayne can at least promote the thing from somewhere other than the inside of a jail cell.

Late Tuesday, Rolling Stone reported that Wayne is expected to begin a sentence stemming from weapons charges Feb. 9.
